Oktoberfest Munich Beer Jobs

Oktoberfest. Germans love beer.

Huge temples are built at the Theresienwiese every year for the sole purpose of beer worship. These ‘tents’ are where all the action happens. Tourists flock from all over the world to sit together at tables, listen to absurdly bad (but somehow catchy) music that everyone can sing along with, and drink until either their pockets are empty (happens faster than you’d think) or they pass out. And here’s the amazing thing: the locals are there to do the same thing!

Living in Munich has so many things to offer, and Oktoberfest is no exception.

The great thing about repeated visits and getting to know the locals is that you learn about many specific traditions that many tourists don’t know about. For example, did you know that you can figure out if a Mädl (girl) is single based on how she ties the knot on her Dirndl (a customary dress which you’ll learn about here)? You can also go and watch men, women, and children alike pay to be made fun of and be put into slightly dangerous situations on the Teufelsrad (Devil’s Wheel).

It’s hard to explain, but imagine a huge wheel spinning in the middle of a room, throwing people around. Sound strange? It is, but it great to watch, and you’ll learn all sorts of impolite Bavarian sayings when the announcer makes fun of the people on the Teufelsrad wheel.

What could be better than not having to travel by plane to take part in the yearly craziness that is Oktoberfest?
