Ruby Hotels, the innovative hotel group behind the “lean luxury” concept, and hetras, the choice for New Generation Hoteliers, have signed an agreement to roll out hetras technology throughout the chain.

Ruby Hotels are developing and operating new hotels which are taking the “budget design” idea to the next level and are especially accommodating modern target groups’ preferences and priorities. The brand stands for a completely new market segment which Ruby calls “lean luxury” – by combining lean organizational structures and operational processes with an unique atmosphere and design in their hotels, offering character and soul – right in the heart of the city.

Ruby Hotels, based in Munich, is able to build and operate hotels in very limited spaces in central city locations and is in their development strategy mainly focusing on conversions of existing buildings and properties. Top quality design, striking interiors and city-center locations combine to form a desirable product at an attractive price.

On the technology and operational side Ruby Hotels will be powered by hetras´ advanced cloud-based hotel management software. Mobile reservations, mobile check-in and mobile check-out put the control in the guests´ hands, where it belongs – before, during and after the stay.

Having designed and implemented software for future-oriented hotel chains such as OKKO Hotels, citizenM, Bloc Hotels and Glow Hotels, hetras was the first clear choice for Ruby Hotels.

“hetras from the first moment gave us the impression of understanding what we are aiming to achieve with our concept and their cloud-based solution gives us the flexibility to accomplish our objectives for better and more efficient guest service and experience”, explained Michael Struck, founder and Managing Director of Ruby Hotels. “They share the same passion for detail in creating both great guest experience as well as efficient and flexible user interfaces and system integrations.

When it comes to operations we target on lean structures and processes, and therefore we centralize and automate a much greater number of tasks than other hotel groups. This enables us to save our guests’ money without putting them at a disadvantage and at the same time offer unique places in the heart of the city to them that are sensuous and full of character – at an affordable price. Our guests are searching for a great sleep and relaxed stay, and they want a fantastic bar as well as a healthy, fresh and uncomplicated breakfast in the morning. That is what we call “lean luxury”.

Ruby Hotels has brought together a highly experienced management team with backgrounds from Arabella and ArabellaSheraton, Accor, Gold Inn, Dormero, design hotels, Kameha Grand and MotelOne.

The first Ruby Hotel is scheduled to open in February 2014 in Vienna. Located in the heart of the Austrian capital, it is part of the re-development of the famous Sofiensäle.

Thanks to the hetras multi-tenant cloud technology, web service architecture and flexibility towards 3rd party vendors, the preparation and training for the first Ruby hotel will be completed remarkably fast, without even requiring on-site presence in Vienna.

Ulrich Pillau, Managing Director of hetras, added: “We are thrilled to be chosen as the technology partner of Ruby Hotels and excited to work with the Ruby management and their unique concept. It is further proof that the underlying design of the hetras product is paying off. hetras is designed especially for new generation hoteliers who want to streamline operations and give the power back to the hotel guests.” In August 2013, hetras was chosen by the prestigious Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Organization IAO as a key technology partner for their “FutureHotel” project.
